D.I.Y Coreboard Snap Bracelets

Learn how to make your D.I.Y. Coreboard AAC Snap Bracelet!! It's so easy.

Coreboards are a form of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC). These come in many different forms and contain key words that a person needs to use in day-to-day activities. Some people have elaborate devices or maybe they communicate through picture exchange, but these things can be bulky and are sometimes inaccessible for our complex communicating friends.

This bracelet was inspired by a client who needed an AAC option during gymnastics where he is running around and his device is hard to carry in this environment. This gives him a comfortable, lightweight option that wont get in the way! So below is how I made it... feel free to modify and make it work for your needs!

  1. Slap bracelets- I just grabbed some from the Walmart Party section, but below is a link for super cheap ones on Amazon if you want to make a lot! (48 FOR $6.99)

  2. Transparent Duck Tape- I chose this option because it seemed the most water resistant and flexible even though it is not perfectly clear. Keep in mind I could not find conclusive evidence that this is latex free... So please do your research if you have a latex allergy!

  3. I used www.lessonpix.com, picked my 10 must-have core words, then hit "create materials" and "Wristbands!" So easy. Lessonpix is $36/year. If you like the one I made, download the FREE PDF HERE!!
